19.30 – 20.301000 meters of tablecloth
The tables at Summer Night’s Dinner will be covered with unique tablecloths created through a collaboration between Proto — the Association of Designers in Northern Finland — and the China Academy of Art, located in Oulu’s friendship city of Hangzhou.
Over the course of more than a year, five students explored Oulu, northern culture, and the connections between the two friendship cities through studies conducted at their home university. Based on these themes, they designed a series of tablecloth patterns. The students were given one guiding principle: in today’s particularly unsettled world, this should be a project of friendship and peace.
The result is a collection of five tablecloth designs inspired by people, culture, nature, architecture, and technology. As guests take their seats at the tables, the motto chosen together by the CAA students comes to life: Where people meet, hearts connect.
