Isokumpu Farm
About us
Isokumpu Farm is a family-run business where Satu and Pasi Kumpulainen work with the farm’s animals. Satu’s brother, Sami Kumpulainen, operates the Isokumpu Spinning Mill. Several of the family’s children are also involved in daily farm life and production.
Isokumpu is Satu’s and Sami’s ancestral home farm, located in Sievi, Finland, and has been inhabited by the same family for at least five generations.
Our products & services
At Isokumpu, we raise native Finnish sheep breeds — Finnsheep and Kainuu Grey — carefully preserving their rare bloodlines.
Our “wool-to-yarn” process is almost entirely carbon neutral. Every step — from raising and shearing the sheep to sorting, washing, spinning, and selling the finished yarn — takes place on our own premises. Over the years, we have developed a gentle processing method that protects the natural strength and softness of the fiber. Instead of using conventional spinning oils, we rely on water steam to treat the wool.
The farm also has its own small-scale slaughterhouse, and all organic meat is sold directly to customers.
You can find our yarns, wool products, and organic meats in our online shop and at selected local retailers.
